Richard Leach

Richard Leach

I started my career in 1987 as an office clerk at a small insurance brokerage. In 1988 I moved to the Bradford & Bingley Building Society where I remained until 2006. During most of this period I worked as a branch based financial adviser and have held the necessary regulatory qualifications since 1993.

I have been running our small financial services firm alongside Stephen and Susan since 2006, and the majority of my customers have been with me for many years.

Outside of work I am married with four children and a dog which keeps me busy, however I also enjoy holidays and supporting my football team along with my sons.

I started work in 1988, my first role was to set the foundation for a career in Financial Services, I worked at Eagle Star for 9 years, this role was desk based, I always felt I would be happier in a client facing position and in 1997 I applied to become a financial advisor with United Friendly.

I passed the required exams by 1999 and then moved into a role as an Independent Financial Advisor with Godrey Pearson and Partners. During this period of time I was lucky to meet some really great people within our industry that gave me the courage and knowledge to then set up whats is now New Oak Wealth Management Limited.

Our firm has now been running since 2005 and I am very lucky to have many clients that have been with me since the start as we go through the stages of life together.

I love my job and care passionately about providing the best possible service for my clients at all times.

Outside of work my interests are mainly cricket and spending time with family and friends.

I initially qualified as a Financial Adviser with National Westminster Bank in 1993. In 1998 I joined Godfrey Pearson and Partners, a small Leeds based IFA firm as an adviser. In 2009 we were taken over by Lighthouse Group who in turn were taken over in 2019 by Quiter PLC, where I became the National Sales Director for Quilter Financial Advisers.  In 2023 I joined New Oak Wealth Management where I am enjoying being back in a small, client focussed, IFA firm once again.

Outside of work I enjoy time with my family who all live close by, playing golf, walking with my children’s dogs and socialising with friends.

I hold a Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP), which I achieved in 2020 while working as an administrator for an independent mortgage broker. This role gave me a solid foundation in the mortgage and financial services industry and confirmed my interest in pursuing a long-term career in this field.

Following that, I worked in the Member Services department of a Mutual Friendly Society, where I gained further experience in supporting clients and developed strong customer service and communication skills.
I’m now the Office Manager at New Oak Wealth Management, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business. I’m currently preparing to begin studying for my professional financial adviser qualifications, with the goal of becoming a fully qualified adviser in the future.

Outside of work, I’m married with two young children who keep life lively and rewarding. I’m also an animal lover, fostering cats in need and enjoying family time together, whether at home or on days out.

I started my career at Eagle Star in their household claims department in 1990 after leaving school, I stayed with them until 2003, progressing from an administrative role to a team leader during that time.

I have assisted in the administration of the business since the start in 2006 and as our children have grown so has my involvement. I now ensure the smooth running of our accounting systems as well as, dealing with the administrative side of our client relations.

Outside of work I love spending time with friends and family, I am an active member in my local Women’s Institute and enjoy walking and a trip to the theatre or cinema.
